About
Project background
Bangor History provides digital access to the historical collections of Bangor Public Library in Bangor, Maine and our community partners. This site is built on Omeka S, an open-source publishing platform. Many items on the site were originally published on Bangor Public Library's Digital Commons, active from 2013-June 2026. Items can be searched or browsed, and all of the content can be viewed online and downloaded. New items are added regularly.
Bangor History is an ongoing effort involving many library staff members, volunteers, and interns. This site contains a fraction of the extensive physical collections managed by the Local History department. Visit our website for more information about our collections. Contact localhistory@bangorpubliclibrary.org with questions or suggestions. We welcome collaboration from community partners. Contact us if you are interested in collaborating to share your organization's history.
