Killed north of Tarifa, Cadiz, Spain, in the accidental crash of the C-47 troop carrier airplane on which, as radio operator, he was flying from Sicily toward England. Linwood W. Perkins. 2nd Lieutenant, U.S. Army Air Forces. 20 June 1918 - 1 November 1943. While piloting his plane over Port Moresby, New Guinea, he was killed in action. A graduate of Bangor High School in 1936, he was in civil life, a bookkeeper. He enlisted in January 1941, at first becoming a radio operator, later transferring to the Air Forces where he was a pilot.

Harry V. Daggett, Jr. Sergeant, U.S. Army Air Forces 873rd Battalion Airborne Engineers. 11 February 1922 - 31 October 1943. Just one year after enlisting he died through accident during the heavy fighting at Guadalcanal. Trained at Miami Beach, Louisiana State University, Westover Field, and Fort Bragg. Born in Pensacola, Florida. Graduated, Stephens High, Rumford, Maine, 1939. In the retail shoe business in Bangor. His sports were golf and hunting. 11118430

Leonard Victor Ashworth, Jr. Aviation Radioman Third Class, U.S. Navy. Naval Air Station, Alameda, California. 28 August 1923 - 30 October 1943. Until the war a life-long resident of Bangor. HIs boyhood interest in airplanes took him into Naval aviation soon after graduation, as a commercial student, from John Bapst High School, June 1941. He died in the accidental crash of his plane while on Naval air patrol off the California coast. 2086782

Harold Breen. Private, U.S. Army. 25 September 1909 - 14 June 1943. After two months in the Army he died of illness at the Station Hospital, Camp Blanding, Florida. In civil life he was a baker.
