Preface. In presenting our first issue of a Directory for the Cities of Bangor and Brewer, we do not claim to have published a book that is infallible, but it has been an earnest endeavor to give to the public a Directory that would be reliable. We have spared neither expense nor time in collecting data from authentic sources which could be relied upon, and have employed canvassers in the different cities who were born and grown up in their respective communities. With the next issue we will present a new map of the two cities, and hereafter the date of the deaths of people in the previous Directory will be noted opposite their names; also opposite the names of people moving from the city will be given where removed to. The resident directory of Bangor contains 8565 names, 1734 more than has ever appeared in any previous directory; Brewer contains 1760, a gain of 416.
