- Preface. It gives us pleasure to present to our patrons and the general public the BANGOR CITY DIRECTORY for 1887-88. This edition is No. 12 in the regular series. For the past eighteen years the work has been compiled by the present Publishers, who feel, therefore, authorized in saying that they understand quite fully what the Bangor people need and desire in their Directory. In the present edition it has been the conscientious aim to satisfy such confessed needs and desires. No reasonable effort has been spared to make the work a credit to the prosperous city which it represents. We trust that the book will be appreciated, not only as a Directory, but as a book of reference containing much information of great practical value to the general public.
