- Preface. The BANGOR DIRECTORY for 1882 is herewith presented to our patrons, being No. 9 of our regular series. Since our last edition the revival of business has caused a large increase of names in our work, and we are happy to refer to our advertising department as an index to the enterprise and pros-perity of the business men of Bangor. The following figures show the large increase of names since our last edition: Names in 1882, 6,700. Names in 1880,5,422. Increase, 1,278. We take this opportunity to present our thanks to officers of societies, the business men, and citizens generally, for the courteous manner in which our agents were received while collecting the necessary information for the directory.
