Student Councils--Awake! The Bangor High School Student Council of 1973 has come out of its closet. Too often students consider their student government to be alien from their wants and needs. But this year we have tried to close the gap between students and their chosen representatives. With the powers delegated to a student council, the group cannot sit back, relax, and take the year as it comes. The council has a responsibility to search out the problem areas and solve them. Failure to accomplish this is unforgivable! Hopefully, closer contact with the student body will help us to provide the leadership and action necessary to satisfy their demands. But closer contact with you is only possible through your cooperation with the representatives. They cannot provide adequate governing without your help. Become involved in extracurricular activities and see how you benefit from it. Not only in high school is this helpful toward making a whole person, but you will soon be voters and responsible for getting involved in our country's government. Only then can you be well represented. If necessary, fight "city hall" until you have what you think is right. They'll love you for it!
