- Ralph Linley Cunningham, Jr. Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army Field Artillery. 89th Field Artillery Battalion. 5 November 1919 - 11 February 1945. From work in the newspaper business in Bangor he enlisted 9 December 1940. Assigned to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Fought in the Hawaiian defense of 7 December 1941 and in the Guadalcanal, New Georgia, and Luzon campaigns. His daughter, Kay Dianne he never saw. Good Conduct Medal. Presidential Citation. Purple Heart. 11014362
