- Ralph A. Scherer. Private U.S. Army. 14 May 1905 - 19 October 1942. Enlisted February 1942. Died at the Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C., of illness contracted in the service. Graduated, Bangor High School, 1922, where he was class prophet, R.O.T.C. member, an editor of "The Oracle", and a second honors student. Before enlisting he was a clerk in the shoe manufacturing business.
