Posters used to recruit service members, encourage thrift at home, and help fund the war. Bangor Public Library acquired its collection of war posters through the efforts of L. Felix Ranlett, a World War I veteran and librarian from 1937 to 1962.

Since the United States has taken its place beside its valiant Allies, this volunteer industrial army has produced: 253,196,000 Surgical Dressings, 14,089,000 Knitted Articles, 1,464,000 Refugee Garments, 22,255,000 Hospital Garments and Supplies...

Mothers like her may not be able to buy bonds but they provide a reason for others to buy all the bonds they can for the great cause of democracy.
Our boys are bound for Berlin. Liberty Bonds pay their travelling expenses. Buy and keep on buying ... Each of these marines has a leg or arm missing or otherwise injured. The War Department has sent a group of Marines (the first to fight crowd) to this country to speed up the Liberty Loan Campaign. They are all "regular" fellows and while they are crippled more or less they are the happiest bunch imaginable and after hearing their story if a man doesn't buy he is hopeless.
Every man and woman in America, and some of the children too, can send an individual answer which not even the Kaiser can misunderstand. Buy more Liberty Bonds ... Italy’s famous group of Alpini soldiers here in the United States to help out the Liberty Loan. All of these men have seen the most severe fighting and many have been decorated for bravery and every one wears bands indicating the number of injuries received. They are urging their countrymen to subscribe.
The War Department needs the pits and shells because they furnish the best carbon for the Gas Masks which protect our fighters. Wild and enthusiastic times marked the Victory Day’s celebration all over the country. Every city vied in having celebrations on Monday when hostilities ceased and it was one joyful day in every place in the United States.
