Harold Breen. Private, U.S. Army. 25 September 1909 - 14 June 1943. After two months in the Army he died of illness at the Station Hospital, Camp Blanding, Florida. In civil life he was a baker. Dennis T. Cullinan, Jr. Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army Air Forces, 364th Squadron, 305th Bombardment Group. 5 November 1919 - 17 May 1943. Enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1938, served in Panama. Trained at Sheppard Field and Las Vegas Gunnery School. Assigned, 19th Bombardment Group and wounded at the Coral Sea, May 1942. After recovery was assigned to the 305th Bombardment Group. Edward Francis Chisholm. Third Class Petty Officer, U.S. Navy U.S.S. Cony. 12 October 1899 - 16 May 1943. A good shipmate, he served on the battleships Arizona, Kentucky, Missouri, and Utah, and made nineteen crossings on the transport Agamemnon, 1917 - 1918. Re-enlisted, 1942. Fought on the Bath-built destroyer Cony with Task Force 68, Kula Bay, New Georgia, 6 March 1943. Died in the Pacific Theatre of accident aboard ship. 1212644

Fighting as an aerial gunner, after long training in many phases of military aviation, he died in action over Germany. Born in Bangor, he attended Bangor grammar and high schools. He was in civil life a store-keeper. Entered the service from Georgia before the start of the war. Purple Heart.

George Pomeroy. Sergeant, U.S. Army Engineer Corps 1st Battalion. 11 April 1913 - 8 November 1942. In peace a yacht seaman who rescued perilously the victims of a Florida hurricane. In war a Sergeant, who, though it killed him, with another destroyed the enemy gun that caught his platoon in a cross Fire near Oran, Algeria. His son, Thomas, he never saw. Presidential Citation. Graduated, Bangor High School, 1922, where he was class prophet, R.O.T.C. member, an editor of "The Oracle", and a second honors student. Before enlisting he was a clerk in the shoe manufacturing business.

Harold G. Eaton. Captain, Merchant Marine (Naval Reserve), Commanding S.S. Raphael Semmes. 15 April 1884 - 28 June 1942. He went down with his ship, torpedoed at 20 30' N-60 30' W, while returning from delivering munitions to Russia. At sea from the age of sixteen, he commanded the U.S. Transport Buford in World War I and the steamship Raphael Semmes, War Shipping Board, in World War II. Mariners Medal.

Pan Massachusetts was torpedoed 20 miles off Cape Canaveral, Florida 28. 27 N x 80.08 W by U-128 (Heyse). Carrying gasoline and oil the ship burned and sank.
